Hiro Fujimoto

ATHLETIC TRAINER (FOOTBALL)
Biography

Hiro joined the University of Iowa Sports Medicine staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the Iowa Football program in June of 2024.

Prior to working for Iowa, he spent the 2023-2024 season with the Detroit Lions as a seasonal athletic trainer. He graduated with his Master of Science in Athletic Training from Indiana University in 2023. While at Indiana, he worked with Indiana football, Indiana Women’s field hockey, Bloomington High School South, and IU Ballet theatre. In 2022, he also served a pre-season athletic training intern for the Green Bay Packers. Hiro completed his undergraduate degree at Hosei University in Japan where he majored in athletic training, and he was certified as an athletic trainer in Japan. While in undergraduate, he completed clinical immersion with women’s tennis team, studying abroad to Baylor University in 2017-2018, and pre-season training camp with Stanford University football team in 2018.

He is a NATA BOC certified athletic trainer and licensed by the Iowa Board of Athletic Training. He holds certification in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Responding to Emergencies First Aid, Graston Technique, Sports Manual Therapy Certified, 3-Dimensional Movement Analysis & Performance system, Dry needling for Sports Rehab, Recovery, & Performance, as well as JSPO-AT and JATI – Accredited Training Instructor in Japan. Hiro is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.

Hiro is a native of Tokyo, Japan, and currently resides in Coralville. His favorite animal is Penguin, and his dream is to visit countries in the southern hemisphere and Antarctica and watch all 18 species of wild penguins.
