Katie Berger

ATHLETIC TRAINER (VOLLEYBALL)
Biography

Katie begins her 10th season with the Iowa Women’s Volleyball team. She joined the University of Iowa Staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for volleyball and the spirit squads in July 2016. Prior to this appointment she was a graduate assistant with the Iowa volleyball program from 2015-2016.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln in 2013 and Master’s in Sport and Rec Management from the University of Iowa while serving as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field team 2013- 2015.

Katie is BOC Certified and licensed by the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals and Licensing. She is a member of NATA, MAATA and IATS. She is certified by the American Red Cross in CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer. Katie holds certifications for Graston Technique, Fascial Abrasion Technique, Personal Blood Flow Restriction Therapy, and is full body certified for Active Release Technique. Throughout her time at Iowa, she has also helped as a research assistant for the Ivy League-Big Ten Epidemiology of Concussion Study. She also serves as the Medical Coordinator for Iowa Sport camps.

Katie is a native of Glenwood, Iowa. She and her husband, Tony, live in Coralville with their rescue pups Rusty and Rue.
