Lauren Werner

ATHLETIC TRAINER (WOMEN'S WRESTLING & ROWING)
Biography

Lauren joined the University of Iowa Athletic Training Staff in the Fall of 2022 and will serve as the athletic trainer for the Women’s Wresting program. In May of 2019, she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Iowa, and completed her BOC requirements to become a certified athletic trainer. She then went on to work as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with Wrestling & Spirit Squad teams at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke while earning her Master’s degree in Sport Administration and Physical Education in 2021 and serving as a preceptor for the CAATE accredited Athletic Training Education Program. Following Pembroke, Lauren spent one year at American University in Washington D.C. working with Wrestling, Men’s Cross Country/Track, and Cheer & Dance teams prior to returning to Iowa.

In addition to her experiences in college wrestling, Lauren has also had the opportunity to serve on the USA Wrestling medical staff at the US Open Wrestling Championships, Senior Nationals, and the US Marine Corps 16U and Junior National Championship events.

Lauren is a native of Neenah, Wisconsin, and currently resides in Iowa City. She is BOC certified and licensed to practice athletic training in the state of Iowa. She also holds additional certifications through the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (CPR & AED) and is certified in Mental Health First Aid. Lauren is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
